Dave Barrett is the President of Team RTP at CRC Specialty, a wholesale insurance brokerage under CRC Group, part of Truist Insurance Holdings. He began his career in the insurance industry in 2008 in an entry-level role at SW Risk, where a street-smart, no-pedigree work ethic quickly propelled him to become a top producer. In 2013, he founded Risk Transfer Partners (RTP), building the firm through early challenges, including a co-founder departure and litigation from a former employer, into a company recognized for discipline and strong performance.

By 2024, RTP was generating $22M in revenue with over $10M in EBITDA and approximately 65 employees, achieving margins well above industry standards. This performance led to RTP’s acquisition by CRC Group at a 20x+ EBITDA multiple, marking one of the most notable exits in the sector. Today, he leads Team RTP within CRC’s Dallas operation, focused on building it into one of the top-performing teams in the industry. In addition to his role at CRC, he runs Scaled Up Ventures, an umbrella for a growing portfolio of entrepreneurial ventures spanning mixed-use real estate development, marketing services, and wellness retail.

Drawing from his journey from a working-class upbringing in Chehalis, Washington to a successful 20x EBITDA exit, he is also recognized as a speaker on peak performance, discipline, resilience, and building through adversity.
